Toddler Creed
If I like it, it's mine.
If it's in my hand, it's mine.
If I can take it from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago,
it's mine.
If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
If I'm doing or building something,
all the pieces are mine.
If it looks just like mine, it's mine.
If I think it's mine, it's mine.
The Tone of Voice
It's not so much what we say
As the manner in which we say it.
It's not so much the language we use
As the tone in which we convey it.
"Come here!" I sharply ordered:
And a child cowered and wept.
"Come here," I softly whispered:
And into my arms he crept.
Words may be mild and fair,
But the tone pierces like a dart.
Words may be soft as summer air,
But the tone can break a heart.

Provider Sanity Poem
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my sanity to keep.
For if some peace I do not find,
I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.
I pray I find a little quiet,
Far from the daily family riot,
May I lie back-not have to think,
about what they're stuffing down the sink
or who they're with, or where they're at,
and what they're doing to the cat.
I pray for time all to myself,
(Did something just fall off the shelf?
To cuddle in my nice, soft bed,
(Oh no, another goldfish--dead!)
Some silent moments for goodness sake,
(Did I just hear a window break?)
And that I need not cook or clean,
(well heck, I have the right to dream.)
Yes now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my wits about me keep,
But as I look around I know,
I must have lost them long ago!

Ode To Day Care
Little children come to me for hugs and books and such.
I care for all their simple needs and I also fix lunch.
I pick up toys, I mop their spills and often their tears.
I change their diapers, settle fights, and kiss away their tears.
I tie their shoes, I button coats and push them on the swing.
I really love these kids you see but there is just one more thing
Call me Mom or Aunt or Teacher
But please don't call me Sitter because I never get to sit!

May
May's the month of happy sounds,
The hum of buzzing bees,
The chirp of little baby birds
And the song of a gentle breeze.

Spring
I love the spring.
For everyday
There is something new
That's come to stay.
Another bud
Another bird
Another blade
The sun has stirred.

Kite Flying
On many spring days I wish that I
Could be a kite flying in the sky.
I would climb high toward the sun
And chase the clouds. Oh, what fun!
Whichever way the wind chanced to Blow,
Is the way that I would go.
I'd fly up, up, up. I'd fly down, down, down.
Then I'd spin round and round.
Finally I'd float softly to the ground.

A Teacher's Prayer for Snow
One night as I lay almost sleeping
I heard a voice, and swiftly peeping
I saw my wife devoutly praying.
This is the prayer I heard her saying:
Oh Lord, Let it snow.
Let it drift and let it blow.
In the morning, no real fuss,
Just enough to stop the bus.
Enough to make the county say:
"There will be no school today."
Let the radio report: "Snow's deep!"
And I'll roll over for more sleep.
Then later on, say maybe ten,
I'll turn the radio on again.
Just in time to hear them say:
"It's strange, the snow has gone away."
And then I'll know, You made it stop.
So I can go to the mall and shop.
Please Lord, just hear my teacher's plea,
And make it snow for the kids and me.

All By Myself
From my clothes on the shelf,
I choose what to wear,
And dress myself.
All by myself
See what I can do,
I can tie My very own shoe.
All by myself
To keep my teeth white,
I use my toothbrush
Both morning and night.
All by myself
I'll go for a ride on my favorite bike
When I play outside. All by myself
How neatly I play!
I carefully put All my toys away.
All by myself
I've learned and I've grown
I can do many things All on my own.

There's Nothing In My Bag Today
Today I did my math and science,
I toasted bread.
I halved and quartered.
I counted, measured, used my eyes,
and ears and head.
I added and subtracted on the way,
I used a magnet, blocks, and memory tray.
I learnt about a rainbow and how to weigh.
So please don't say, anything in your bag today?
You see I'm sharing as I play.
I learnt to listen and
speak clearly when I talk,
to wait my turn, and when inside to walk.
To put my thoughts into a phrase,
to guide a crayon through a maze.
To find my name and write it down,
to do it with a smile and not a frown,
To put my pasting brush away,
So please don't say, what, nothing in your bag today?
I've learnt about a snail and a worm,
remembering how to take my turn.
Helped a friend when he was stuck,
learnt that water runs off a duck.
I looked at words from left to right,
agreed to differ, not to fight.
So please don't say, did you only play today?

What is A Teacher?
A teacher is someone
who sees each child
as a unique person
and encourages individual
talents and strengths.
A teacher looks beyond each child's face
and sees inside their souls.
A teacher is someone with a special touch
and ready smile,
who takes the time to llisten
to both sides
and always tries to be fair.
A teacher has a caring heart
that respects and understands.
A teacher is someone
who can look past disruption and rebellion,
and recognizes hurt and pain.
A teacher teaches the entire child,
and helps to build confidence
and raise self-esteem.
A teacher makes a difference
in each child's life,
and affects each family
and the future of us all.

Words of Wisdom
Teachers affect eternity. One can never tell where their influence ends.
A teacher has a special way of making learning fun, finding joy in everyday and the best in everyone.
Behind every successful child is someone who cares.
A teacher plants the seeds of knowledge, sprinkles them with love, and patiently nurtures their growth to produce tomorrow's dreams.
A teacher should be your child's second mother
A teacher makes you feel good about who you are, and inspires you to become all you can be.

Walk a Little Slower Daddy
"Walk a little slower, Daddy"
Said a little child so small.
"I'm following in your footsteps,
And I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.
Someday when I'm grown up,
You're what I want to be:
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
"So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."

The Child Care Provider
Although I'm not their mother,I care for them each day.
I cuddle, sing, and read to them,
And watch them play.
I see each new accomplishment,
and help them grow and learn,
I understand their language,
and I listen with concern.
They come to me for comfort,
And I kiss away their tears.
They proudly show their work to me,
I give the loudest cheers!
No, I am not their mother,
But my role is just as strong.
I nurture them and keep them safe,
Though maybe not for long.
I know someday the time may come,
When we will have to part,
But I know each child I've cared for
Is forever in my heart!!!!!!!

HUGS
If I could bottle up and
Sell a wonder drug
Then I would choose to
bottle up
A warm and loving hug
For nothing is much better
As a tonic for a cure
Then just a little that can
Chase away tear!
